So today no water
I guess I will be going to fish tomorrow. Maybe have some shrimp in freezer. Think I will go to the beach. Get some good sunshine. After class of course. A no nap day.

RAIN
Happy for the rain but would rather be swimming with the sting rays.
The sun is out after raining all day yesterday and last night. Shades of Louisiana. The plants are thankful.
New duck in the pool today. Tragedy yesterday. Squirrel fell in pool and drowned. Left him for Mom to bury, garbage bag in the trash can. So much for funeral services.
Finished three more squares of the turtle quilt. Added beads to some. Lots of embroidry to others. I think I need three more squares to finish this
row or rather two rows and two columns forming a square around the central larger square. Then I have to make 20 more squares to go around the whole thing with strips between all the squares, so I'm looking at finishing the top around Christmas so I can put it together for quilting. Heh, heh. That's what happens when a little quilt becomes a king size!

Thanks Christina
Turned out to be a lazy day. Saved gas and stayed home. Put some recipes into a book. Made me really hungry.
Planted some watermelon seeds and some carrot seeds with some zinnas in my Earth Box.
Hoping the dinner fairy comes and brings a delightful meal, tired of leftover meatloaf.

I went to the Yarn Outlet in Bradenton on the way back from Venice yesterday which reminded me of this photo of my yarn that I knitted in NY while reading a book named A Good Yarn.
I wanted to buy some mermaid material but found it has been discontinued. They had magenta with gold seahorses from the same line so I thought why not, I always like magenta and blue together.
Whenever I figure out how to make the lining and pockets I will photograph it and show it here.

Water Felt Cold In Venice
So Mom and I went to Venice, FL and found Caspersen Beach near the airport. Nice wooden walkways over the dunes. Tide was in and not much beach showing but lots of folks with their water digging and straining gear. As rookies, our eyes were not trained for seeing the teeth and a couple of helpful guys found teeth in our piles of shell and gave them to me. I ended up finding 2 and Mom one so we left happy. I had my original dive goodie bag which has a metal mouth with nylon net bag attached and I waded to the tumble area of the surf where the shells etc. wash up and down and scooped up and rinsed the sand out and poured it on the dry sand. Some had like picture frames with mesh bottoms and used that. I got pretty wet even wetting my phone and camera in my cargo pockets that I had never used before and forgot about. Very lucky the pockets were above my knees and didn't get dunked, just splashed.
There are some rocks for jettys and to prevent erosion from the dunes and supposedly teeth get captured there, but as it turns out the teeth that are found laying on the sand are only found by the first people there in the morning and lots come by daily for their walk and collecting and have the eye for it and experience. Well, we did not show up early, about 10am and it was only wading and digging for me.
The water was cold but I adjusted and if my durn knees were better and I wasn't just coming off of the worst case of vertigo I've had yet, I would have stayed longer. But the point was to find the place and find a tooth and mission accomplished.
We left and went to Sharkey's at the Venice Beach Pier for lunch, barely a mile back up the Harbour Road. We shared Mango bbq Pork sandwich and half quesadilla with fries, pickle and spicy salsa/salad. We were pleased with our lunch but dinner there would be dear.
We drove through Venice which had a small shopping area similar to St. Armands Circle and through Nikomis which is small town Florida. We brought back shoes full of sand but my pants had dried. Fun had by both.

Winter in NY
We went and got ourselves lost about an hour and 15 minutes from the house, following the directions of "the woman in my car" otherwise known as the GPS. I also gave Vic a bum steer and we went a mile down a bumpy frozen dirt road in his bumpy truck before finally arriving at the Maple Inn Restaurant. We couldn't believe it when we saw cats parked along the highway for a half-mile before we reached the place. And couldn't believe people would wait in line in the snow to get in a little restaurant that made it's own maple syrup and was only open 2 1/2 months per year. So I took photos.
He dropped me off at the end of the line and went off to park the truck on the highway, lucky to get a near-by space of customers leaving. We just looked at each other and laughed, because we had come so far to get here and were so hungry that we would actually wait in that line. I have to admit that he did the waiting as I went in to use the restroom and it was so warm and there were chairs available by the fire, and the line was moving too fast for folks to actually sit without having to get up and move, I sort of stayed and just about the time I felt guilty enough to go check on him and trade places, he was at the door. Heh, heh. They were Yummy pancakes. For sure.
I said I couldn't let the lake thaw without going out on it. One for the bucket list as it were. You can see in the photo some patches darker in color which meant it was starting to thaw. Vic went down to check it out and we safely went out for photos. I had never seen a frozen lake before. And I stared at it for hours each day. Watching the fishermen, and birds.
Vic had to dig out the sidewalk...after walking through the snow for a few days, I didn't have, don't own boots. And my sneakers were the beach kind that has the air flow instead of leather ones which I left at home. I packed light. Only one pair of shoes and slippers.
I did have great meals ready on the days I was home all day. I kept busy. I'll tell about that another time.
Last in a photo from the side window.
Of the snow on the fir trees. It was so pretty.
I love NY

Warm waters in the Y pool
Wore myself out swimming laps then taking my aerobics class in the water. Had to have a long nap. Nice to be back in Florida. Took Vic to the plane this am. almost didn't cry. I guess he will come visit in three weeks. Lots to do in the mean time. I decided to work on the turtle quilt. Making it for king size after all. As that is what I need. Not quite as large as the blue jean quilt. I will set up a sewing table in the garage for a while while it is cool. Taking Mom to Olive Garden for lunch tomorrow for soup and salad. Also going to make a garden on top of the plastic lawn table. Grow some peppers, parsley, carrots, eggplant, cucumbers and lettuce. With as many flowers as possible. It is close to the water source and gets the most sun in the back yard. May also use some of the chairs to hold pots of squash and watermelon.
Oops, can't find my new photos under pictures, will have to look for them.

Another Day Out
Went back to downtown Geneseo today after lunch. Went to the post office to mail a package to Christina and talked to a lady working in her garden who had three hens, she showed me her hen house and tractor and the hens were so happy to be out scratching in the yard which wasn't even all fenced in. She was watching them closely. She said I could probably get away with having bantams for a while. She said hers weren't noisy unless a cat was around. I seem to have cats daily however. I might try it.

Ice on the water turning dark
No warm waters here. the small area of water at the end of the lake where the stream comes into the lake is getting larger. Today a guy boated out and dropped off some canadian goose decoys and hid behind a blind with his black retriever. While I was watching tv news I heard one shot. I looked and didn't see the dog go off after anything. Guess he missed or was just firing for the hell of it. Just now in the pitch black the last of the ice fishermen left in his 4 wheeler. Lots of people were on the lake this afternoon, I guess like us, they just had to get out before it melted. One little girl in pink was cross country skiing around the lake. She was really going at it. Some people were holding hands and strolling. Strange. We had just walked out a ways, took a photo looked into a few fishing holes and left. The snow had pretty much melted on the lake but it was still deep in the backyard down to the lake.
I cooked peanuts again, it takes a long time with dry peanuts. Much easier if you could get green ones after harvest. Whenever that is. But cooked with salt, Tonys and tabassco they are yum.
Tonight I cooked my buckwheat pancakes. Mine were as good as the restaurants.
