Seeking warm water in bathroom

The cruise is 31 days away. But I am looking forward to the bath and shower. The tile is down. Needs grout when tiles dry. Also painting the bathroom to match the guest bathroom in Kennesaw. I want to use my former rug and shower curtain. Also Uncle Bill's mission painting.

Handyman Vic is as bad as the Baton Rouge girls, turning his head when I took his photo.

Remodeling Hall Bathroom

Yes, Handyman Vic is blowing his vacation by working his fingers to nubs, removing the tile that a tenant glued (extremely well) to the bathroom floor. The house is totally remodeled except for the two bathrooms. Of course, he picked the larger one to start. Except for the floor tiles, nothing has been done to this bathroom ever and the house is almost 40 years old. Built in 1978, we have owned it about 21 years. I have the before pictures, only they are after he tore everything out except the bathtub. He plans to Mexican tile the floor, and put in a new sink and vanity. Replace the newer toilet that he had put in for me when Mom moved in.
All I know is last night there were some loud curses and pain screams. I didn't actually examine his hands, but as he is using hammer and chisel to loosen the tiles I'm guessing his fingers and hands were getting hammered. I say hands because he is ambidextrous. Double ouch.

Picnic and Movie

John and Vic are grilling steaks and shrimp skewers. We saw It's Complicated and I laughed louder than I can remember in a long time. Everybody in the theatre did. I really liked the movie. You should see it if you are an adult.

Earlier we went to some thrift shops for John to look at some collectibles, then to Coquina Beach for a picnic of turkey and ham sandwiches for us and peanuts for the squirrels. It was fairly windy and chilly but lots of fun. Some little children were swimming and older ones were zipping around on wave runners.

I bought Mom a frog hanger for her bathrobe to hang in the bathroom.

I don't know why there is a photo of the sand pails by the back door, but there you have it. Some day I hope to figure out the photo system and my camera etc.

Santa Came

I finally checked the hidden camera, I couldn't believe it! I caught a photo of Santa here in the house. Who knew?
Merry Christmas all. Ho, ho, ho.

December 27, Linda and John

Expecting company today. Linda and John Coker coming to celebrate their Anniversary with us. The plan for the day is to exchange gifts, have turkey breast lunch, It's Complicated movie, shrimp on the barbie dinner and evening of Guitar Hero. They should be here any minute so I should go vaccum the guest room. Heh, heh.

Merry Christmas 2009

Missing my girls but otherwise a fabulous day. Rained early am before we woke and enjoyed warm dry weather the rest of the day. Lovely breakfast of cocktail sausages, eggs and raisin bread toast. Gifts opened. Thanks to Kelly and Christina for the gifting part as we three swore not to gift each other. The fingerless mittens were fun as was the Peggy froggy and biscotti. Vic and I enjoyed our surprise ball filled with travel sized necessities for our Cruise as well as the three cruise books. I am halfway through the first one already.

Christmas Dinner was fantastic. Mom made a pork rib roast, and I made green bean casserole, twice baked potatoes, french bread toasted and a chocolate pie.

WE were stuffed but Vic bought diet coke and kettle corn at the movie NINE. I liked it alot. It was Felini weird. But good.

Supposed to have leftover Crawfish Bisque for supper but I doubt anyone will be hungry. We will see.

I feel so blessed to have my loving husband and ditto Mother here with me to Celebrate another holiday season. Also lucky to have such a good dog as Susie to love and adore me.

Merry Christmas

Cocoons for Christmas

Made cocoons today for Vic. Mom already gave some to Kyle the pool boy! Sorry Vic. They were good. Used a recipe on a card in my Father's handwriting dated 12-3-72. They turned out great.
Cocoons
1 cup butter
6 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups ground pecans
3 cups flour (2 1/2 cups flour)
powdered sugar
Cream butter, sugar, then flour together thoroughly, add vanilla and ground nuts. Form into cocoon shape and bake in slow oven 300 degrees until lightly browned and crisp. While still hot roll in powdered sugar. Cool and store in holiday container each layer separated by wax paper.

Cruising with the Girls

I realize it is only a few days from Christmas, but all I can think about is the cruise in January. My husband Vic, my girls-Christina and Kelly with their boys, and my cousins Kathy and Jeanne are headed to Tampa to take Carnival down the Western Caribbean. Of course, I have been there before, but I can never get enough. This trip I am looking forward to snorkeling with the stingrays in Grand Cayman with the whole group. I think Kelly may be the only one to have done this excursion so far.
